CUMBERLAND CO. RESCUE SQUAD ASSISTS IN LOCATING STRANDED HIKERS
The Cumberland County Rescue Squad responded yesterday to assist other agencies in extracting two hikers stranded in Fall Creek Falls.
Rope systems were used as precautionary measures throughout the rugged terrain of the park. Crews got a half mile from the falls when contact was made with the individuals. They were brought out and evaluated on scene by medics. No injuries were noted.
Other organizations involved in the rescue included teams from White, Putnam, and Van Buren County. They were helped by park rangers, a helicopter unit with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Hamilton County Cave and Rescue.
