CUMBERLAND COUNTY APPROVES BROADBAND READY COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL BOND RESOLUTIONS
Cumberland County Commissioners have approved a resolution designating the county as a Broadband Ready Community. According to County Mayor Kenny Carey, the designation will assist broadband companies in the area to apply for state grants that would help to increase local coverage, particularly in rural areas. This is in compliance with one of Gov. Bill Haslam’s agenda items from earlier this year. The commission also authorized the issuance of General Obligation School Bonds in the amount not to exceed $12,625. The money will go toward the construction at Crab Orchard Elementary and for renovations and roofing repairs at Cumberland County High School.
