CUMBERLAND COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION SELECTS DR. INA MAXWELL AS NEW DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS
The Cumberland County School System will have a new director of schools. At a special called meeting held minutes ago, the board of education selected Dr. Ina Maxwell to offer her a contract to be the next director of schools. The vote was near unanimous. All board members but two voted for Dr. Maxwell. School board member Robert Safdie voted for Dan Schlafer while school board member Shirley Parris voted for her son, Darrell Threet. The fourth candidate, Dr. Scott Maddox, did not receive any votes. A work session will now be held Monday, May 18, 2020 at 5 p.m. to work out a contract with Dr. Maxwell for the director of schools position. The school board will then hold a special called meeting immediately afterwards to vote on the contract.
