The Cumberland County Board of Education discussed facility updates at Thursday’s monthly meeting. Upland Design Group’s Kim Chamberlin presented bids on the North and South Cumberland Elementary re-roofing projects. Out of five bids received, the C.M. Henley Company from Knoxville delivered the lowest bids with $655,000 on the replacement of the North roof and $484,400 at South, which was just under the one-time $500,000 budget allocation that the BOE received from the county for that project. Chamberlin said that the work at South would begin immediately, but the work at North would not start until summer break begins in May due to the enormity of the job. The board unanimously decided to go with Chamberlin’s recommendations.
