The Cumberland County Commission has entered into an agreement with an organization to build a new animal shelter. Focus On Cumberland County Animal Shelter (FOCCAS) is a non-profit organization with an interest in providing aid to animals and public education about care and responsible ownership. The agreement states that FOCCAS wants to develop a new modern and more humane shelter for animals to be used for the county and the City of Crossville. The estimated cost of the shelter is $285,000 which will be fully funded by FOCCAS. The funds would be placed into an escrow account dedicated to the construction. Upon completion, FOCCAS would turn over full possession and ownership of the shelter for the county to operate afterward with FOCCAS coming in from time to time to conduct educational programs for adult and youth. The resolution was passed unanimously.
