CUMBERLAND COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING HIGHLIGHTS NOVEMBER 17TH, 2025

At the Cumberland County Commission meeting on November 17, 2025, all commissioners were present except Commissioner Patterson.

The commission unanimously appointed Lori Bowers as the new County Archivist to replace Joyce Rorabaugh, filling the term through September 30, 2027, and reappointed Everett Bolin and Barry Field to the Solid Waste Regional Planning Board with terms expiring in November 2031.

Several routine budget amendments were approved for the Fire Department, Highway Department, and various school funds, including adjustments related to state grants, special education, tennis courts at SMHS, and TISA funding.

Financially, the Codes Department issued 32 residential building permits and collected $42,800 in fees in October, while EMS collections reached $439,522 (exceeding estimates), though year-to-date revenue remains $205,855 below target due to a resolved third-party billing error.

Sales tax collections for October were $1,480,348—nearly $30,000 above projections—putting the county $133,142 ahead year-to-date. Property tax collections are stronger than last year at 25.54%, prisoner boarding revenue from state inmates is significantly higher at $237,185 year-to-date, and Hotel/Motel tax collections are slightly behind last year at $362,977, representing 30.25% of the annual budget.
