A response by Crossville police to a physical domestic altercation on West Avenue yesterday turned into the discovery of two small children unattended in an apartment. During the course of the investigation, law enforcement learned 33-year-old Michael Paul Workman and 31-year-old Heather Ann Maynard allegedly left a 2 month old in a car seat in the floor and a one year old unattended in a playpen in a dwelling on Autumn Lane. The warrant states Workman and Maynard leaving the children at the residence and not notifying anyone of the children being alone created an imminent danger to the kids. Both were each charged with two counts of child abuse, taken to jail and both initially placed under $15,000 bond. The children were released to family members.
