A routine stop for a Cumberland County deputy Monday night came very close to him being injured. The officer pulled over a vehicle driven by 48-year-old Mark Allen Cobb of Crossville on Highway 70 West for a traffic violation. The arrest report states the officer wrote a citation and handed it to Cobb. That is when Cobb allegedly stomped the accelerator and nearly hit the deputy with the back of the vehicle. A short chase started and upon stopping Cobb, he was arrested for aggravated assault.
