CUMBERLAND COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO NUMEROUS CALLS DURING SEVERE WEATHER

Firefighters with the Cumberland County Fire Department responded to numerous calls during last night’s (Saturday, May 27, 2017) severe weather. Cumberland County Assistant Fire Chief John Hall told 105.7 News this morning that the department responded to a total of 28 calls during the storms.

“As far as actual house fires, there were none. The main problem was trees down over homes and lightning striking close enough to other homes to create a power surge going into the residences”, said Hall.

Widespread damage was reported in Cumberland County as a result of the severe weather.

In Crossville, one structure fire was reported. According to the Crossville Fire Department, the blaze was not related to the storms.
