CUMBERLAND COUNTY FIRE FIGHTERS RESPOND TO A KITCHEN FIRE ON ROCK QUARRY ROAD

A recent incident on Rock Quarry Road highlights the life-saving impact of early fire detection, thanks to a successful response by Cumberland County Fire and Rescue. This morning, firefighters were dispatched to a residential kitchen fire, only to find upon arrival that the flames had already been extinguished.

Remarkably, all of the home’s occupants were able to escape the burning structure entirely unharmed because they were awakened by the sound of blaring smoke alarms. These pivotal devices had been installed exactly one year prior, on June 14, 2025, by members of the Cumberland County Fire Department as part of the state’s “Get Alarmed Tennessee” safety initiative.

The department is sharing this story as a reminder of how functioning smoke alarms can mean the difference between tragedy and a safe escape.
