CUMBERLAND COUNTY FIREFIGHTERS HONOR TOP RESPONDERS AT ANNUAL BANQUET
The Cumberland County Fire/Rescue held their annual firefighters banquet last night at the 4H Camp, where the Lake Tansi Volunteer Fire Department was well represented. Among the honorees, Shawn Aytes was recognized for 20 years of service.
For response achievements in 2025, Gene Messersmith earned the title of Lake Tansi Station Top Responder, Eddie Elser placed second overall in the county for top responder, and Dylan Cole took first place as the county’s top responder.
Congratulations were extended to all those acknowledged for their outstanding responses throughout the year as well as for their long-term service. Gratitude was expressed to the 4H Camp staff for hosting an excellent event, and to all the firefighters and their families for their dedication. The department looks forward to continuing to serve the community and county effectively in 2026, while wishing everyone to stay safe.
