CUMBERLAND COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT CHARGED WITH THREAT OF MASS VIOLENCE
A Cumberland County High School student was taken into custody and charged Wednesday following an investigation into threatening statements made to school officials and law enforcement.
The incident triggered a swift response from the District Threat Response Team, which includes the Crossville Police Department, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee Office of Safety and Homeland Security, and local school officials. Authorities confirmed that no weapons were recovered, and students were never in imminent danger.
Thanks to the rapid containment by the School Threat Assessment Team, the campus continued normal operations without interruption, avoiding a lockdown. The juvenile suspect has been formally charged under Tennessee law (T.C.A. 39-16-517) for making a threat of mass violence on school property.
Law enforcement and school officials praised the collaborative response and reiterated their commitment to investigating all potential threats. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior concerning local schools or public buildings.
