The annual East Tennessee Development District celebration last Thursday provided a high-profile platform to showcase the local Rockwood Forest Trails, according to City Administrator Becky Ruppe.

During the event, city leadership highlighted the ongoing efforts to expand and improve the community outdoor space. Ruppe offered high praise for the dedicated group of volunteers driving the project forward, singling out Tom Carson, Steve Scarbrough, and Jim Cooley for their tireless work in shaping the trails’ current success and future potential.

City officials also recognized key regional and local partners aiding in the project’s long-term development. Special acknowledgments were directed to East Tennessee Development staff member Chris Oelgoetz and Rockwood’s Aaron Summerall for their instrumental support, though Summerall had to depart prior to the main presentation due to a busy schedule.

The recognition underscores the community’s commitment to outdoor recreation and regional collaboration as Rockwood Forest Trails continue to grow.
