A Cumberland County man is behind bars in Rhea County charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect. The Times-Free Press reports that a 7-month old girl is fighting for her life in the pediatric intensive care unit at Erlanger Medical Center after showing signs that could be related to “shaken baby-syndrome”. 24-year-old Jesse Lynn Wyatt, the mother’s boyfriend, was watching the baby and called 911 Dispatch to report that the child was not breathing. Emergency personnel arrived at the Shady Lane address located east of Dayton, and transported the child to the hospital. Wyatt and the baby’s mother had been staying with friends in Rhea County for a few weeks. Authorities have not released the baby’s mother’s name and she has not been charged. Wyatt, who is also wanted in Cumberland County, is also facing drug charges.
