CUMBERLAND COUNTY MOTORISTS FACE MAJOR TRAFFIC SHIFTS AND ROAD CLOSURES DUE TO ONGOING TDOT CONSTRUCTION
Drivers traveling through Cumberland County face significant travel impacts this week due to active bridge repairs, resurfacing, and widening projects managed by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).
On Interstate 40, median construction and bridge repairs continue between mile markers 304.4 and 306.6, with traffic shifted along the route. Additionally, nighttime resurfacing operations are underway from mile marker 306.2 to 311, taking place Sunday through Friday from 7 PM to 6 AM.
Several state routes are also impacted by construction zones:

Highway 70 North: Bridge repair work has reduced the highway to a single lane controlled by temporary signals near mile marker 0.24. Further north, a full closure remains in place between the Crossville city limits and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and School for an Obed River bridge replacement project. Motorists must use the posted detour along Northside Drive and Sparta Highway.

Highway 127 Grading activities continue north of I-40 to Potato Farm Road, keeping Lawson Road closed with a detour via Tabor Road. Final resurfacing activities on Main Street between Miller Avenue and Highway 70 North may cause nighttime lane closures and delays from 7 PM to 6 AM.

Cumberland and Fentress County Highway 127: Traffic has officially shifted to a new alignment from North Lowe Road in Cumberland County to Little Road in Fentress County as part of an ongoing widening project.
TDOT urges all motorists to exercise caution, watch for construction personnel and equipment, and obey posted warning signs and detours throughout the work zones.
