CUMBERLAND COUNTY MURDER SUSPECT APPEARS IN CRIMINAL COURT

A Cumberland County murder suspect appeared in criminal court today. Officers say 48-year-old Billy Joe Wannyn of Spencer is accused of the death of 71-year-old Albin Buechel. Wannyn faces an additional charge of aggravated robbery. Buechel’s body was discovered at his home on Seagraves Road in Pleasant Hill in early 2018  after reportedly sustaining several stab wounds. No plea was entered in court today. Wannyn is scheduled to return to criminal court December 9, 2019. Court officials say his trial date that was supposed to start December 10 has been postponed since he now has a new attorney.
