A Cumberland County murder suspect appeared in criminal court today (January 3, 2020). Officers say 48-year-old Billy Joe Wannyn of Spencer is accused of the first-degree murder of 71-year-old Albin Buechel. Wannyn faces an additional charge of aggravated robbery. Buechel’s body was discovered at his home on Seagraves Road in Pleasant Hill in early 2018 after reportedly sustaining several stab wounds. No plea was entered in court today so Wannyn is scheduled to return to criminal court March 23, 2020.
