CUMBERLAND COUNTY POSTS SECOND FATAL ACCIDENT IN ONE WEEK

Another fatal auto accident was recorded in Cumberland County Wednesday morning on westbound I-40 after two trucks collided. Authorities, along with emergency personnel, were called to the scene near mile marker 315 around 6 a.m., where a 2016 Westar truck driven by 57-year-old Robert Baron Day of Greenville, South Carolina, had struck a 2013 Volvo pulling a trailer with aluminum blocks and driven by 47-year-old Ronald Harrison of Sumter, South Carolina. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says Day was pronounced dead at the scene. He was entrapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by county firefighters. Traffic was completely stopped for a time, then the left-hand lane was closed off for the better part of the day during the cleanup. A Cumberland County woman was also killed in a two-vehicle wreck on Peavine Road this past Saturday morning.
