CUMBERLAND COUNTY PRINCIPAL/TEACHER COVID-19 SURVEY RELEASED

The Cumberland County Board of Education will review the results of a mask covering survey for the elementary schools during the COVID-19 pandemic in their meeting this Thursday night (September 24, 2020).

For all grades in Pre-K – 3rd grade (72 teachers responded) saying YES to a mask being worn by students:

Pre-K – 2.8 percent

Kindergarten – 23.6 percent

1st grade – 29.2 percent

2nd grade – 22.2 percent

3rd grade – 22.2 percent

For all grades in Pre-K – 3rd grade (48 teachers responded) saying NO to a mask being worn by students:

Pre-K – 22.9 percent

Kindergarten – 16.7 percent

1st grade – 12.5 percent

2nd grade – 27.1 percent

3rd grade – 20.8 percent

Of the respondents in Pre-K – 3rd grade, the question was ask if they prefer the mask wearing of students, where should it be enforced:

Hallways – 26.1 percent

On board buses – 25.6 percent

Restrooms – 17.1 percent

Classrooms – 10.4 percent

Cafeteria – 9 percent

Everywhere – 6.2 percent

Gym – 4.3 percent

Playground – 1.4 percent

Of the respondents in Pre-K – 3rd grade, the question was ask if they prefer the mask wearing of students, when should it be enforced:

At teachers discretion – 49.5 percent

During transition – 33.7 percent

All day – 16.8 percent

Of the respondents in Pre-K – 3rd grade, the question for teachers was do you feel face coverings serves as a distraction during instruction?

Yes – 79.8 percent

No – 20.2 percent

For all grades in 4th – 8th grade (71 teachers responded) saying YES to students wearing a face covering:

4th grade – 25.4 percent

5th grade – 23.9 percent

6th grade – 18.3 percent

7th grade – 22.5 percent

8th grade – 9.9 percent

For all grades in 4th – 8th grade (41 teachers responded) saying NO to students wearing a face covering:

4th grade – 12.2 percent

5th grade – 31.7 percent

6th grade – 24.4 percent

7th grade – 22 percent

8th grade – 9.8 percent
