CUMBERLAND COUNTY RECORD RAINFALL BRINGS FLOODING TROUBLES AGAIN
Mother nature struck again early Saturday evening pouring rain across the Upper Cumberland area and causing flooding across the land, particularly in Cumberland County. According to 1057 News Staff Meteorologist Steve Norris, the county received a record rainfall of over 4.5 inches. Flooding was reported at various areas including West Ave at 10th St., Main Street and Braun, Highway 70 East in front of Bootleggers, parts of Highway 127 South, and the front of Martin Elementary School. A portion of Old Jamestown Highway located just past the Cumberland Mountain School going southbound, collapsed due to flooding. The road is closed in both directions, so please take an alternate route.
