CUMBERLAND COUNTY RESIDENT SCAMMED OUT OF $990
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Dept. is investigating a scam that cost a resident $990. The report stated that the victim received a phone call from someone identifying themselves as an agent with the DEA. They said that a vehicle belonging to the victim had been found in Texas with 200 pounds of cocaine inside. The resident was instructed to purchase Google Play Cards in the amount of $990 or agents would be coming to his home. The victim did purchase the cards and sent them to the unknown caller. 1057 News cautions our listeners to not fall for such phony scams! Be smart! Never send any money in any form or release private information to anyone before checking with authorities or investigating things yourself.
