CUMBERLAND COUNTY ROADS FLOOD DURING HEAVY RAINS

The weatherman predicted rain for overnight Tuesday but this is ridiculous! Cumberland County was in for some unexpected trouble after overnight heavy rains caused flooding throughout the county. Reports of accidents began coming in from Interstate 40 early in the morning and sections of Highway 70 East and State Route 282 in Lake Tansi had to be closed off due to accidents. If that wasn’t enough, reports of flooded roadways and streets began pouring in. flooded areas were reported all along Dunbar Road and soon after, Pigeon Ridge Road between Lantana Road and the Cumberland Mountain State Park was closed off to through traffic. A driver had to be rescued from a vehicle which had been trapped in water on Clint Lowe Road and it was reported that a boat was observed adrift in the 500 block of Dunbar Road. Things began to settle down around 7:30 AM when the rain began to move out of the area. The Cumberland County Road Dept. will begin repairs to those sections of roadways needing them.
