CUMBERLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE REPORT RELEASED OF MURDER ON DORIS DRIVE

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department released a report today (September 29, 2020) regarding a murder at 434 Doris Drive this past Saturday (September 26, 2020). It states the alleged shooter, 20-year-old Robert Davis Morse of Crossville, called 911 and reported the incident himself.

Morse was found sitting in the front yard beside the porch of the home. Morse turned and placed his hands behind his back to surrender before officers prompted him to do so.

When placed into the patrol cruiser, Morse reportedly told them the firearm was in the hallway inside the residence. Authorities also found 20-year-old Matthew Dylan Musser of Crab Orchard lying in a bed deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.

The scene was secured as authorities investigated the incident. A warrant was then taken out on Morse for first-degree murder. His bond was set at $1,000,000. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Cumberland County General Sessions Court October 12, 2020.

A motive for the shooting has not been officially released as of today
