CUMBERLAND WILDLAND FIRES DUE TO UNSAFE BURNING AMID POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS
The Cumberland County Fire Department (CCFD) reported that the wildland fires, which broke out over the weekend, were primarily weather-related, stemming from individuals who failed to burn safely under the current conditions.
According to fire officials, the department received a call from Tennessee State Forestry authorities indicating that burn permits would not be issued for Sunday (yesterday) or today because of unfavorable weather, making outdoor burning particularly hazardous.
CCFD emphasized that people involved in these incidents were not adequately prepared for the prevailing weather or did not take the necessary precautions to prevent sparks or uncontrolled spread.
Fortunately, as far as the department is aware, no injuries occurred during these fires, and they have not received reports of any property damage resulting from the incidents.
