DETAILS ON FATAL HIGHWAY 62 MULTI-VEHICLE CRASH

In Morgan County, Tennessee, a fatal crash on Highway 62 near Coalfield claimed the lives of motorcyclists Angela and Kevin Childress. The driver, Scotty Tinker, crossed the center line, striking their motorcycle, and now faces two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and a DUI charge. On Tuesday evening, Highway 62, known as Knoxville Highway, was closed to through traffic for several hours between the Coalfield turnoff and Oliver Springs due to a fatal multi-vehicle accident near the Dollar General Market in Coalfield. The crash claimed the lives of two motorcyclists.
According to 9th District Attorney General Russell Johnson, the driver of a minivan, which crossed the lane and struck the motorcycle, will face vehicular homicide charges. It remains unclear if others were injured or how many vehicles were involved.
Morgan County Rescue Squad and Sheriff’s Deputies assisted the Tennessee Highway Patrol, which is leading the investigation. Further details will be provided as they are released by the THP.
