DETAILS RELEASED OF SUSPECT SURRENDER ON NORTH MAIN STREET IN CROSSVILLE

The Crossville Police Department released details this afternoon of the arrest of a man last Friday on North Main Street.

The incident started at Burger King when Lloyd Field attempted to leave the restaurant. Field observed a white Gardaworld armored security van stationary in the parking lot, blocking him from leaving.

After his wife got into their vehicle, Field walked up to the van and lightly tapped on the driver-side window to try to talk to the driver, 29-year-old Jessie Karl Allen of Knoxville. Field told officers he was motioning to Allen to move the van so they could leave.

Field stated he could not hear what Allen was saying because the window was up. Allen appeared to be yelling and motioning Field to go away.

Allen then reportedly pulled a black handgun out and pointed it at Field.

Field backed away from the van quickly and returned to his car.

The passenger of the security van came out of Burger King, and Allen drove off.

Allen was stopped shortly after on North Main Street near Aaron’s.

Allen surrendered to authorities without incident, dropping to his knees on the road with his hands in the air.

Allen told officers he drew his weapon to try to scare Field away from the van.

Police arrested Allen for aggravated assault.
