DEYOUNG ENTERS PLEA IN CUMBERLAND CO. COURT IN CHILD ABUSE CASE

Arrested in Crossville on Tuesday and enters a plea Thursday in court. It may be one of the fastest resolutions in Cumberland County General Sessions for a woman charged with child abuse. Police took 39-year-old Jennifer Lynn DeYoung into custody after her 2-year-old was found playing in the road near Burnett and Main Street. Fourty-eight year old Dylan Sunderland Kelly was also charged with child abuse in the incident. In general sessions court yesterday, DeYoung took a deal and plead to a lesser charge of attempted child neglect. Court officials say Judge Larry Warner sentenced DeYoung to 11 months 29 days on supervised probation and judicial diversion, meaning the charge could be dismissed if DeYoung stays out of trouble during her probation. Kelly remains in the court system charged with child abuse.
