DRIVER HURT AFTER CAR GOES OFF HIGHWAY 70 INTO CLINCH RIVER IN ROANE COUNTY

Kingston police and paramedics responded last night to an automobile crash and came into contact with 19-year-old Joshua Shillings, 18-year-old Isaac Collins and 21-year-old Robert Lawson. The 2005 gold Ford Taurus driven by Shillings was travelling east on Roane State Highway at a high rate of speed when the car left the road at the Highway 70 bridge and went into the Clinch river. All three occupants managed to get out of the vehicle while it submerged into the water. Collins was transported to Roane Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The others in the automobile escaped injury. Shillings was cited for failure to provide proof of insurance and more charges are possible.
