CUMBERLAND COUNTIAN PASSES AWAY FOLLOWING BICYCLE ACCIDENT

Cumberland County authorities and medics went to the scene of a bicycle accident early yesterday afternoon on the 600 block of Clint Lowe Road. Crews found 67-year-old Gerald L. Ellis of Lake Tansi in a ditch. The report indicates a motorist not far behind the bicyclist said Ellis was approaching a curve, ran off the asphalt and flipped over the handlebar. The driver stopped and called for help. Ellis was taken by ambulance to Brown Elementary School where an air medical helicopter landed. He was flown to a trauma center and later passed away. No foul play is suspected in the incident.
