DROUGHT BLAMED FOR BROWN WATER AT BLEDSOE COUNTY CORRECTIONAL FACILITY
A drought which has plagued Bledsoe County for months is being blamed on discolored and foul-smelling water at the regional prison facility. At least that is what state officials at the Tennessee Dept. of Corrections are theorizing. They say that a conservation order by the Pikeville Water Utility in July for the Southern Tennessee State Regional Correctional Facility led to water being diverted through a line from a nearby treatment plant that had not been used in years. No health complaints have been received but inmates are complaining that their clothing has been stained brown. Those prisoners with sleep apnea have been supplied with distilled water.
