DRUG TAKE BACK PROGRAM HELD IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
The annual drug take back program was held in counties all across the listening area yesterday. Cumberland County leads the state in the amount of pills collected during the program. Since starting the initiative in late 2014, Cumberland County has taken back 7,862 pounds….nearly 4 TONS of pills. The program yesterday started at 10 a.m. and within the first 19 minutes, citizens dropped off 36 pounds of pills. After the drugs are collected, it is stored in locked drums and they are secured for the DEA. Agents will pick up the drums and take them to a facility in either Georgia or Alabama where the pills are properly destroyed.
