DUI ARREST ON LANTANA
On March 31, 2025, at around 1:44 AM, Officer Amy Sherrill responded to a vehicle crash on Lantana Road between Dorton Way and Miller Ave. in Crossville, TN. A black Nissan Altima, driven by Skyler Threet, was found off the road in the grass after driving over the sidewalk. Threet claimed another vehicle cut him off while he was driving east, causing him to swerve and crash. He couldn’t describe the other vehicle and his account seemed inconsistent, as he could have used the wide shoulder to avoid leaving the roadway.
Officer Sherrill noted signs of intoxication in Threet, including slow, slurred speech, watery red eyes, and unsteady balance. Threet admitted to drinking alcohol earlier but claimed it was only a couple of drinks hours prior. During Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, Threet showed multiple signs of impairment: his eyes lacked smooth pursuit and displayed nystagmus in the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test; he missed heel-to-toe steps, took the wrong number of steps, and stepped off the line in the Walk and Turn test; and he swayed, used his arms for balance, and put his foot down in the One Leg Stand test. A Preliminary Breath Test indicated a BAC of 0.119, confirming intoxication.
Threet was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence. A search warrant was obtained for two vials of his blood, which were collected at Cumberland Medical Center and stored as evidence at the Crossville Police Department. A 19-year-old passenger in the vehicle was also intoxicated but was not charged and was released to a relative at the scene.
Threet was transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office without incident.
