DUI AT GENESIS SPEEDWAY
According to a report from the Crossville Police Department, on Tuesday at 7:16 a.m. City Police Units were dispatched to the Genesis Road Speedway about a motor vehicle accident in the parking lot. Upon arrival, Officer Steven McNeal made contact with a male subject identified as Nicholas Wade Burchfield.
Burchfield was making erratic movements and could not stand still. He said that his mother was driving the car and got scared and left the scene. Dispatch confirmed Burchfield’s Driver’s License was Revoked for DUI. Burchfield stated that he used Methamphetamine a few nights prior.
Burchfield consented to conduct Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. However, he would fail some of the tests.
Sptl Farmer was advised by a witness that before the officers’ arrival, Burchfield disposed of something in the trashcan. Sptl Farmer located a bloody one-dollar bill at the top of the trashcan with an orange pill with the imprint 8N identified as Buprenorphine.
McNeal read Burchfield his Miranda Rights at intake where he confirmed that he did throw the bloody dollar bill away and what the contents were.
Burchfield was confirmed unable to successfully perform Field Sobriety and was transported to Cumberland County Justice Center. He would be charged with Driving Under the Influence, Simple Possession, Driving on Revoked, and No Insurance.
