DUI ON SATURDAY, STOLEN TRUCK ON SUNDAY
On Sunday, Crossville Police Department units including Officer Jeremy Beard were dispatched to Sparta Highway in Crossville in response to a stolen vehicle, a blue Ford F-150. Upon arriving at 9 a.m., Beard made contact with the owner of the vehicle who stated that he was working around his vehicle in the garage and last saw it in his garage the previous night around 9 p.m. He found it to be missing from his garage on Sunday morning.
Not even two hours later, Deputy Devyne Templeton of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office was driving down Sligo St. on an unrelated matter when he spotted the stolen vehicle pulling into a driveway and identified the driver as William Whited.
Whited had been taken into custody the day before for running over a Dead End sign while intoxicated and leaving the scene of the accident.
Templeton recovered the vehicle and advised the owner of the Ford F-150 that his vehicle had been recovered. The original owner recovered his vehicle on scene and Whited was taken into custody by Deputy Templeton and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and driving under the influence.
