ELECTION DAY IN CUMBERLAND AND ROANE COUNTY

Today is election day in Cumberland County. The seat of Crossville mayor is up for grabs as incumbent James Mayberry is challenged by current councilman Danny Wyatt. Voters in the city will also select two council members from a six contenders in Art Gernt, Rob Harrison, Sadie Hoover, Ralph Reagan, Virgil Thompson and Jessie Kerley. For Crab Orchard alderman, Kenney Alley and Mike Findley will be elected as they are the only two running and voters must choose two. In Pleasant Hill, Lisa Patrick and Diane Savage are running for mayor while Peggy Happy seeks a council seat there. Polls will open in Cumberland County at 8 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. central time

Roane County voters will head to the polls today to elect several to city and county seats. In contested races, Wiley Brackett, Randy Childs, Becky Humphreys and Don White are seeing seats on the Kingston City Council. Only three of the four will be elected. For Oliver Springs Alderman Ward 2, Jeffrey Bass and Paul Parsons are running. Also in Oliver Springs, citizens there will vote if they want wine sold at retail food stores in the city. In Rockwood, three seats on the city council will be decided between Robert Bobby Anderson, Steve Bryant, Dudley Evans, Glen Gabriel and Harold Holloway. Another item that will be considered by voters in Roane County is a referendum regarding a proposed wheel tax to help pay for the proposed super high school construction. Polls will open in Roane County at 8 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. eastern.

Voters will also decide the next governor and U.S. senator for Tennessee, as well as U.S. House of Representative seats.
