ELEVEN APPLY FOR CUMBERLAND COUNTY DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS POSITION
The cutoff date for applications has passed and the Cumberland County Board of Education will consider 11 individuals wishing to be the next director of schools.
Applications came in from the state as well as other states. Four of them are locals in Dan Schlafer, Darrell Threet, Scott Maddox and Ina Maxwell.
School board member Jim Inman said at a previous school board meeting he would like to look in the county first for qualified applicants then look at others.
Qualified candidates had to submit the following to be considered:
- A formal letter of interest
- A current resume, including accomplishments by position
- A copy of the candidate’s Tennessee license and certifications
- University transcripts
- Names, addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers of five (5) professional references
Qualifications for director of schools includes, but not limited to, possessing a professional educator’s license in Tennessee, a master’ degree in education, at least three years of successful experience in school administration, and other qualifications as the school board deems desirable.
The 11 resumes are scheduled to be reviewed by the school board in April and interviews will be scheduled.
The school board is working to get a new director of schools in place before the contract for current director of schools Janet Graham expires in June 2020.
