FATHER OF LOUDON COUNTY TEEN KILLED IN ACCIDENT GETS BILL FROM TDOT

A McMinn County father said the Tennessee Department of Transportation mailed him a near $3,000 bill to fix the guardrail that was hit in his daughter’s fatal accident.

Officers say 17-year-old Hannah Eimers died in the November 2016 crash when her car went off Interstate 75 and hit the guardrail. The guardrail went through the car, pushing Eimers into the back of the vehicle.

Stephen Eimers received a bill from TDOT for $2,970.14 following the fatal accident.

TDOT now says sending the bill to Stephen Eimers was a mistake and will send a letter informing him that he did not have to pay the charge. According to TDOT, a bill is not suppose to be sent out to a family member of one killed in a vehicle accident that damages guardrails.
