FENTRESS COUNTY COMMISSION TO MEET REGARDING FILLING VACANT SEAT OF SHERIFF

The Fentress County Commission will begin their task of filling the seat of sheriff at their meeting tonight (Monday, May 1, 2017). The seat became vacant when former sheriff Chucky Cravens resigned last month. Cravens pled guilty to federal charges and will be sentenced July 20th facing up to 61 years in prison. Currently, Chief Deputy Gary Ledbetter is in charge of the Fentress County Sheriff’s Office. Tonight, the commission will discuss the protocol for appointing someone to serve as interim sheriff to fill the rest of Cravens term that will expire next year. The meeting will start at 6 pm in the courthouse in Jamestown.
