FENTRESS COUNTY SHERIFF RESIGNS, COUNTY COMMISSION WILL HAVE TO APPROVE NEW SHERIFF

Fentress County Sheriff Chucky Cravens submitted a letter of resignation via email Friday afternoon to county commissioners. In the email, Cravens asked the commissioners to accept his resignation effective April 28th. Cravens added that it was an honor to serve the people of Fentress County and he deeply regrets the circumstances that led to his resignation. Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation raided the Fentress County Sheriff’s Department early last week and seized computer files, boxes of files and a vehicle used by Cravens. The only statement the TBI and FBI are releasing about the investgation at this time is that they are looking into improprieties regarding Cravens. An appointmet to replace Cravens will have to come from the Fentress County Commission, who is set to met tomorrow night (Monday, April 17) at 6 in their regular meeting at the Jamestown courthouse. At this time, the consideration of a new sheriff for Fentress County is not on the agenda as the agenda was set prior to Cravens resignation.
