FIREFIGHTERS IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY BUSY RESPONDING TO OUT-OF-CONTROL BURNING

The Cumberland County Fire Department was busy today responding to several out-of-control burnings.

Burn permits are required until May 15, 2024, for any outside burning. With beautiful days this week, it is tempting to be outside and start clearing debris and preparing for spring.

There have been numerous brush fires that quickly got out of control. Should you choose to burn, you are responsible for that fire, and should that fire get out of control and damage property other than your own, you are liable for those damages and can be charged.

Permits are free and can be obtained by calling 877-350-BURN.

Follow the guidelines as to what you can and cannot burn outdoors.

Keep a water source nearby; avoid burning on windy days, and burn away from any structure.
