Kroger announced today they will require all customers to wear a mask while shopping in their stores to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

The mask requirement begins Wednesday, July 22, 2020. The grocery chainโ€™s employees have already been ordered to wear facial coverings and will continue to do so.

โ€œWith the increase in COVID-19 cases across the country, we are committed to doing our part to help reduce the spread of the virus,โ€ a statement from Kroger reads. โ€œStarting July 22, 2020 we will require all customers in all locations to wear a mask, joining our associates who continue to wear masks.โ€

There will be exceptions for children and individuals with breathing problems.

The announcement comes just hours after Walmart and Samโ€™s Club issued their own mask mandate for stores.
