FIVE-VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON I-40 CAUSES TRAFFIC BACKUP
A five-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 yesterday at the 293-mile marker west in Putnam County created a traffic backup.
The crash report from the highway patrol states a 2015 Subaru Outback driven by 32-year-old Emily J. Walis of New York rear-ended a 2013 Toyota Corolla operated by 31-year-old Deborah C. Troyer of Tennessee. Troyer stopped with three other drivers for heavy traffic on I-40.
The three other drivers involved in the chain reaction crash involved a 2021 Jeep Gladiator driven by 50-year-old Kenneth W. Rodgers of Tennessee, a 2014 Toyota Avalon operated by Adrenne Valenti of Washington, and a 2020 Jeep Cherokee with 46-year-old Michael Stewart behind the steering wheel.
Troopers reported no injuries in the accident.
The accident caused a backup of westbound traffic for a couple of hours.
