FLU ACTIVITY STARTING TO INCREASE IN AREA

Typically, flu activity starts to increase in October but there are signs it is getting a jump on the area. According to the Centers for Disease Control, multiple cases of the flu are already reported in parts of Tennessee. Health officials suggest children and people over the age of 65, ones that have chronic health conditions, have a weak immunity system and healthcare workers should get the flu vaccine where it is available. As of yesterday (Thursday, September 6, 2018), no confirmed cases of the flu were noted in Cumberland or Roane County but flu-like symptoms have been observed.
