FOLLOW-UP STORY – An act of heroism early this week potentially saved the lives of two following a vehicle accident in Roane County.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol released the accident report this afternoon of the crash that took place this past Sunday at the 343 mile marker of I-40. It indicates a 2008 GMC Canyon driven by 37-year-old Stephen Dodd of Knoxville was traveling west when he lost control, left the road and struck an embankment. The vehicle rolled onto its top and the engine compartment caught fire from the impact. Dodd and a passenger in the vehicle, 35-year-old Brittany Dodd of Knoxville, were both injured. They were treated for injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

Troopers state in their report that the blaze was quickly put out by a passerby who pulled Stephen Dodd from the wreckage.

105.7 News learned that passerby was Dakota Greiner. Greiner moved quickly to grab a fire extinguisher and put out the flames before emergency crews arrived.

Authorities are calling Greiner a hero for his actions to save the Dodd’s in the crash
