In a follow-up to a story 3B Media News broke yesterday, a woman is showing signs of getting better in an area trauma hospital after being shot Monday afternoon in Cumberland County.

TBI special agents, investigators with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, and the Office of the 13th Judicial District Attorney General are investigating the incident.

When deputies arrived at a residence in the 2000 block of Smith Mountain Road, they found 40-year-old Trish Shore suffering from injuries.

A family member of Shore told 3B Media News Trish sustained two gunshot wounds to the head.

Yesterday, Shore was in critical condition.

This afternoon, a family member told 3B Media News Trish is awake and is doing much better than yesterday.

The TBI says the investigation is active and ongoing at this time.

No further updates were released by the TBI this afternoon.
