On October 8, 2023 the Cookeville Police Department received information that a Youth Villages counselor had an inappropriate relationship with a minor in 2018.

After a lengthy investigation, 58-year-old Gregory Davis of Cookeville was identified as the suspect and evidence in the case was presented to the Putnam County Grand Jury.

The grand jury issued indictments against Davis for sexual battery by an authority figure and aggravated statutory rape.

Davis was arrested on January 10, 2024 and taken to the Putnam County Jail where he was given a $100,000 bond.
