FORMER FENTRESS COUNTY SHERIFF TO BE SENTENCED TOMORROW (AUGUST 23, 2017)

Former Fentress County Sheriff Chucky Cravens is scheduled to appear in a Nashville federal courthouse tomorrow morning (Wednesday, August 23, 2017) to be sentenced on federal corruption and civil rights charges. Cravens plead of guilty to those charges in April of this year after he resigned as sheriff. Federal investigators say Cravens used his position to solicit and have sex with three female inmates at the Fentress County jail in return for giving them benefits at the jail. Agents with the TBI went to the Fentress County Sheriff’s Office on April 11, 2017 and seized two county trucks and other potential evidence in an investigation into allegations of impropriety. Authorities said Cravens was the only one under investigation and not the sheriff’s office. Cravens is guilty of three counts of honest services fraud and one count of rights under color of law. Cravens original sentencing date was back on July 20, 2017 but was moved to tomorrow morning at 10:30. Cravens faces up to 61 years in prison.
