Ashley Marie Decker is scheduled to appear in the Cumberland County General Sessions Court on Thursday, August 6, 2026, to face a felony charge of theft of property valued between $10,000 and $60,000.

According to an affidavit of complaint filed by Investigator Bobby Moore of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, the charges stem from an investigation launched in July 2025 regarding a resident diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

Investigators state that Decker had been appointed as the victim’s power of attorney to assist with daily care, medical appointments, and bills. On April 1, 2025, Decker accompanied he to One Bank on Dunbar Road in Crossville, where he withdrew $54,121.63 of his personal funds.

• The Agreement: Decker reportedly agreed that the victim would loan her $19,700 of the withdrawn funds to cover the first year’s rent on a home at 6259 Osage Road, where she, her children, and the victim were to live while she provided care.

• The Allegations: The victim later relocated to live with his stepson who subsequently assumed power of attorney. The victim and his stepson reported that more than $44,000 of the withdrawn money is unaccounted for, noting that the victim received only a $10,000 check back and did not otherwise benefit from the funds.

• The Defense: Decker maintains that the money was given to her as a gift by the victim to help her get back on her feet.

However, investigators state that he maintains the funds were stolen. Decker is represented by the Public Defender’s office in the upcoming court proceedings.
