A former Veterans Affairs counselor is facing attempted murder charges.

A police affidavit says Phillip Bryant Elliott rammed his vehicle into the kitchen of a man who used to be one of his former patients.

It happened Friday night on Balata Drive in Ooltewah.

Elliott told police he tried to kill the man because he believed he killed kids in the 1970s.

He’s being held at Silverdale Detention Center.
