MAN ATTEMPTS TO OUT RUN COPS IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY SUNDAY
On Sunday, a county officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a vehicle pulling a utility trailer that did not have working lights. After the officer activated their emergency lights and sirens, the vehicle accelerated from the officer for about half a mile down HWY 70 before turning onto Matthews Road where it came to a stop. The driver, Michael Neighbors, stated he ran from the cops because he did not have a license and was scared to leave his Mom. When officers searched the vehicle, there was a syringe inside the driver’s door and a pistol underneath the driver’s seat. Neighbors admitted he was a convicted felon and had a suspended license. Also, Neighbors had a Nation Wide Full Extradition Warrant out of the state of Georgia.
The passenger, Jack Carter, had a local warrant for Failure to Appear and was found with a spoon with burnt marks, a hollowed-out pen, and a cut straw.
The back seat passenger, Chloe Harris, also had a local warrant for Failure to Appear. She was found with a syringe, cut straw, and aluminum foil with burnt residue.
Carter and Harris were transported to intake to be served their warrants. Neighbors was charged with Felony Evading, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Warrant Arrest from another State, and Driving on Suspended.
